The Pumpernickle Bakery in Kathmandu is famous for it’s genuine cinnamon rolls.

“People come from all over Kathmandu to buy our cinnamon rolls” said Samten, who is one of the fine team of waiters, “other coffee shops also buy our cinnamon rolls to sell to their customers.”

What makes Pumpernickle Cinnamon rolls so special, “Madam insists that our pastry chef uses only pure Dalchini (cinnamon) which grows wild in Nepal.”

Samten says “the grapefruit tree in our garden is also very popular, but not as popular as our cinnamon rolls.”

Whether it’s the Dalchini ingredient, or because they are baked under a grapefruit tree, this writer agrees the Cinnamon rolls are delicious.
