Mustard Greens – Sarson ka Saag
A delicacy of North India especially Punjab which could be found on dinner tables across different class of people. It is high in nutrient value. In Punjab it is served with Maze bread/ chapattis.
Ingredients:
Chopped mustard greens – 500gm
Onion chopped – 1 large
Tomato chopped – 1 large
Ginger & garlic paste – 1 tsp.
Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Salt as per taste
Oil – 1 tbsp
Serve for 4 people
Preparation time 45 mins
Process:
Heat oil in a frying pan for few minutes and fry the onion and tomato, ginger and garlic paste till the mixture turn light brown. Now mix cumin, coriander, turmeric powders in a bowl and put in, fry all for five minutes. Add the chopped mustard greens, and cook for twenty five minutes on medium low heat with a cup of lukewarm water.
Tips-
Do not add water instantly, as chopped mustard greens will leave water of their own. Add water if the mixture sticks.
