Pol Sambol (Coconut Sambol)

Traditional Sri Lankan dish made from coconut and spices

1 fresh coconut

1/2 red onion –  finely chopped

2 limes

1 tbsp of chili powder

½ tbsp of Maldive fish

Salt to taste


1.Scrape the coconut into a bowl.
2. Make sure the red onion is finely chopped and mix it with the scraped coconut.
3. Add the chili powder and maldive fish
4. Add the juice of 1 of the limes into the bowl and mix

5. Add some more lime and salt to suite your own taste.
